Update: 2019-2020 Wrestling Thoughts and Concerns

Hey All,

Our coaching staff has been having some tough conversations about how to move forward with our season, which would ordinarily be right around the corner. With so much in the air, it has been hard to make any cemented decisions. This is also the longest that I, personally, have been away from a wrestling room in 20 years and I'm starting to get antsy.

Here is our big roadblock:

With schools shut down this fall, we will not be able to utilize our usual practice spaces. We have no home. This is our big search at the moment and it is hard to move forward without solving this issue. If you know someone with extra space or a business that would allow us to use their facilities, please get in touch with us.

Once we find a home:

In the event we move into a space, we can start putting together a plan. Here are some of the ideas that we are mulling over:

  1. Offering high school only for the fall.

  2. Splitting into small group practices, 6-10 kids, with dedicated partners.

  3. Offering 1-on-1 training with a coach.

  4. Getting together for other activities: runs, hikes, spikeball, etc.

  5. Taking this fall off entirely (heaven forbid).

Nothing we come up with is ideal. We would love to hear the input of our members, so please reach out and tell us what you are thinking, what your worries are about potentially coming back to wrestling, or if there is anything we can do for you. Please email info@whatcomwrestlingacademy.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
