I was born and raised in Whatcom County and attended Mt. Baker High School. I watched my older brothers wrestle and decided to start competing in middle school. My strength, speed, and aggressiveness gave me an immediate advantage. My love for learning and strategy allowed me to adopt new techniques and progress quickly. After taking first place in Whatcom County, I set my sights on a higher goal – State Champion. I dreamed of becoming a 4-time State Champion. The high school competition proved tougher than I expected. I placed 8th at State my freshman year and 7th my sophomore year. After this, I realized it would take some extra work to be number one, so I started wrestling freestyle in the off-season. The extra mat time was beneficial and my junior year I took 2nd at State. I was proud of myself, but I knew it would take more to be a State Champion. I joined the Washington Women’s National Team and competed at Junior Nationals in Fargo where I was one round short of placing. But the experience paid off, and my senior year I was the State Champion at 125. After graduating in 2016, I returned to Fargo Junior Nationals to redeem myself, this time placing 3rd at 121. I chose to end my wrestling career there and committed to running cross country and track at the University of Portland. However, I never left behind my love for wrestling and all the lessons it taught me. After college, I returned to Whatcom County and started coaching wrestling. I love the excitement of seeing new wrestlers fall in love with the sport and develop their unique style. It’s my mission to welcome and guide the next generation of wrestlers to discover the joy, strength, and resilience that wrestling has to offer both on and off the mat.
